Patrick's Web Site- Monoco Grand Prix for Dreamcast
This game is one of those racing games you either love as a Nascar racing fan, or you hate as an avid video game racer. Personally, I fall under the later category. But I have tried to review this game in a fair and unbiased way. But you have been warned. This game's graphics are more fit for a PSX than a DC. Noticably choppy and all the cars look the same, except some have different colors, with small pop-up. This is a checkpoint-type racer. But there's nothing to show the checkpoint except a very small flag on the ground. Makes no sense. The handling is realistic, which I see as more of a con than a pro. This game is also fairly difficult to master, something that is hard to find. There is little to no replay value, as all of the tracks look pretty much the same. The music is good, and the sounds are realistic.
Graphics: 6 Choppy, small pop-up, and all the cars look the same.
Gameplay: 6 Realisticly poor handling with a large learning curve.
Replay Value: 5 After you master this game, you would only bring it out to show off your skill.
Music/Sound: 9 Finally, something good in this game! Good music with realistic sounds, which is seen in nearly every game, so it's pretty much a given.
Average: 6 A game only a fan can love. Though there are some worse ones out there (many found on the PSX).
